652 High Street Prahran
High Street is a 30 apartment boutique housing development designed to maximise the site’s elevated position and offer impressive views looking east over Prahran & beyond to the CBD. The building is defined by a recessive base under four dramatically cantilevered floor plates. A secondary language of glazing with solid infill & sun shading elements project beyond the floor plates according to solar orientation. Balconies are handed on the north facade to create a sense of movement and visual interest to the street elevation. Balconies are contained within the plan form of the floor trays in order make them feel private & sheltered. The material and colour approach of the building references the red / brown face brick & tiled terracotta roofs of local facades and roofs by applying hand-made monochromatic brickwork to the floor trays. The trays are grade from dark to light and increase in colour intensity as the building height increases.
